Sara, I must contradict you a bit regarding the rent levels here, which increased recently. You can rent a studio flat with prices starting from 42.000 AED in International City, to over 95.000 In Dubai Marina, that if you want to live in the so called posh areas. The rents can go up to 500.000 or more if you wish to rent a villa. Many people share accommodation here, although not any longer in villas, where is forbidden sharing starting with the beginning of this month.
Health insurance is compulsory and is provided by the employer, by law.
Cost of living is not higher than in Romania, fuel is faaaaaaar cheaper, I can drive around 500 km with 65 AED, not bad!!
Every start is difficult, no matter where you go, but Dubai is a multi-culti city and you can adjust easily here. _________________ I live in Dubai and happy about it! |

Well, I could not call Karama or Satwa bad areas, and sure there is always the sharing system. But seeing the rules about being forbidden sharing villas, there are only the appartments to share, and the rents are as I told you. Believe me, I am in the real estate business and I deal with this issues on a daily basis. _________________ I live in Dubai and happy about it! |

Rules…haha…who cares abt the rules, tell me??Who really follow the rules ? Come on... 90% of the companies r doing this with their staff 1 room for 6persons, or 1villa each room 3-4 persons….And Baladia ( The Municipality ) will not came to check even don’t disturb to care ! |
Well it seems that you are not quite updated: I didn't say it is not happening and that the companies are not doing it, that is why disaster happened when a villa used for personnel accomodation burned and 30 people were dead. Thing is that now municipality is ENFORCING THIS RULE, till 20 oct is the dead line, they cut the water and the electricity in villas till now. The rule does not apply, though, to freehold areas! _________________ I live in Dubai and happy about it! |

I'm asking coz my sister also she's living in villa and she never complaint abt those things. Now as u said they will change the villas in Sharjah under the oreder the Municipality |
I am not talking about Sharjah, where other rules apply, different emirate! In Hor Al Anz, A Qusais, various areas they started doing it. This is about families sharing villas, as well as the bachelors! Here is a big thing going on, you should know it since you live here!!! _________________ I live in Dubai and happy about it! |

I think i was not so clear to u, I'M NOT TALKING ALSO ABT SHARJAH , my sister still lives in Dubai next to Al Qouz area, but soon they want to move their place in Sharjah (coz more cheap).
By the way i live in Hor Al Anz, and it is really queit ! We did not hear this things u r talking abt it ....
Maybe it's in the area with bachelors villas, not our side , but it's really surprinsing me those news! |
Well then, read this and you'll see what am I talking about. Is the & days newspaper site.

Or this,on the Gulf News site:

Or from 24/7:
Priced out of a home
"Many tenants who are having to find new homes as Dubai Municipality enforces the one-villa-one-family rule will have to pay dublu their existing rent.
Tenants sharing houses are receiving eviction notices – and some will have trouble securing alternative accommodation as the delayed delivery of residential projects has led to a shortage of properties. Those who have been sharing villas in contravention of the rules for two or more years pay much less than than present market rates. Currently, two and three-bedroom apartments are on the market for the same rent as five-bedroom villas were two years ago – and with the rent split fewer ways living costs will in some cases double, warn estate agents. "Many people living in rented accommodation will have to undergo a major reorganisation of their finances and find alternative housing to move into," says Liz O'Connor, Head of Leasing at Better Homes.
"
And last, but not least is Khaleej Times:

22 September 2008
DUBAI - The housing situation in Dubai and neighbouring emirates is in for a turmoil, as Dubai Municipality announced a 30-day deadline from Sunday for residents sharing villas to vacate them, giving the thousands of tenants a rude shock. _________________ I live in Dubai and happy about it! |
