A new, hi-tech method of visa identification has been laun-ched by Dubai Municipality at the annual Gitex exhibition.
The new system, called the Mobile visa service, or M-Visa, is designed to streamline and speed up visa confirmation on arrival in the emirate.
Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD) said that the M-visa system will send a bar-code image via email or text to mobile phones, which can then be read by scanners set up at the DNRD checkpoints, allowing the visitor entry into Dubai.
DNRD is also planning to set up self-service kiosks at various locations to simplify procedures and provide convenient services for customers.
The kiosk allows customers to perform a variety of operations including applying for and inquiring about visa status as well as printing your own residence visa.
